Bad Day

"Hey what's wrong," Jeff asked as Turquoise climbed out of the ring and grabbed a towel. She avoided him and tried to slip off to the locker room, but he grabbed her wrist before she could leave and turned her so that she was looking at him.

Had a bad day again
She said I would not understand

"Nothing," she said with a sigh and tried to leave again. He held her wrist and stopped her from going.

"I know you," he said. "What's wrong?"

"I had a bad day Jeff," she replied with a huff. She yanked her hand from his and turned away from him. "You wouldn't understand. Just let it be." She took off for the locker room.

Jeff shook his head and followed her to the door, but she was faster than him and the door slammed shut before he could stop her. He sighed and leaned up against the wall. After a while the door opened and he looked up hoping to see his girlfriend, but instead found Amy.

She left a note and said "I'm sorry, I had a bad
day again."

"Don't look so happy to see me," she said smirking. Jeff scowled at her. "Here," she said handing him a piece of paper. "T asked me to give this to you. She left out the back about 5 minutes ago."

Jeff took the note and read it. "She wants to be alone for a while," he said to Amy who was waiting to see what the note said. "She said she had a bad day and needs to be alone."

Amy smiled sympathetically. It was the first time since Turquoise and Jeff had started dating that she had ever asked him to leave her alone. They were practically joined at the hip. "Maybe she needs to sort things out before she talks to you," Amy offered.

Jeff nodded and left to gather up his gear. He had to go talk to Turquoise. She shouldn't be alone. Maybe he could help her.

Spilled her coffee, broke her shoelace
Smeared the lipstick on her face
Slammed the door and said "I'm sorry, I had a bad day
again."

Turquoise sat with her head in her hands on the edge of the bed in the hotel room she and Jeff were sharing. Things seemed to be going to shit ever since she had been in the accident. She was eager to get back into the ring, but there just seemed to be more and more setbacks every week.

This week it was Jaqueline yelling at her that she needs work on her whips and that her body slams were sloppy.

The weeks leading up to today were just as bad. She had to go through physical therapy once she was released from the hospital, even though she swore to both the doctors and Vince she was fine. Then she had to do training sessions with Jaqueline and Tori so that there was little or no ring rust when she finally did return. She was floored to realize that her timing and execution of the moves was way out of whack.

"Maybe I'm not meant to get back in the ring," she muttered to herself as she stood up and went into the bathroom to run a hot bath for herself. She heard the door to the room open and sighed. Leave it up to Jeff not to listen when I ask to be alone she thought. She sighed again and walked back into the room.

"Babyface," he said softly reaching for her. She pulled away from him shaking her head.

"I told you in the note I need to be alone," she said. "I had a bad day and I need to be alone!" With that she walked back into the bathroom and slammed the door behind her.

And she swears there's nothing wrong
I hear her playing that same old song
She puts me up and puts me on

Jeff sighed and sat down on the bed. He needed to find out what was bothering her somehow. He looked up when he heard the familiar sounds of Pardon Me by Incubus. She always listened to that song when she was taking a bath these days.

"Wish I could help her somehow," Jeff said with a sigh. "All I want to know is what's wrong."

"Nothing is wrong," he heard from the bathroom doorway, just barely audible above the music.

"How can you say that," Jeff asked walking over to Turquoise. He ran his hand gently across her cheek. "Something's bothering you. Maybe I can help."

"Nothing is bothering me," she said pulling away from him. "Everything is fine. I just need to brood alone for a while."

Had a bad day again
She said I would not understand
She left a note it said, "I'm sorry, I had a bad day again."

"Just let it be Jeff," she said. "I had a bad day. You can't understand why so don't try to. I just need to be alone." With that she went back into the bathroom and closed the door behind her.

Jeff sighed and shoved his hands into his pockets. He pulled out the note that she had Amy give him and sighed sadly. "She needs to be alone for a while. Guess that's what she'll get." He grabbed a pen and paper from the end table and scrawled a quick note before grabbing his jacket and leaving the room.

Turquoise emerged from the bathroom a while later wearing a terrycloth robe. She spotted the note on the end table and read it quickly.

Babyface,
Had a bad day. See you later.
Love,
Jeff

She smiled and noticed her note there too. She shook her head and went to get dressed.
