Tears welled up in her eyes as she thought of him picking up his bags, which he hadn't seemed to unpack at all, and kissing her goodbye. She sniffled and gently climbed out of bed. She padded barefoot in to the bathroom and winced slightly as her skin cam in contact with the cold tile floor. She splashed some cold water onto her face and leaned on the countertop as she was overwhelmed by sadness. "No one ever said that being a wrestler's wife was going to be easy," she mumbled and grabbed the fluffy towel off the towel rack. She splashed some more water on her face and then dried it off with the towel.
"Baby," she heard Hunter's groggy voice call and soon he appeared in the doorway clad only in a pair of black silk boxers. She admired his finely chiseled body and his long, golden sleep tousseled hair. "I missed you,' he said smiling sleepily. His smile faded when he saw the tears shining in her eyes. "What's wrong?" She shook her head and wiped the tears away. "Something's wrong. What is it?" He pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead gently. "Tell me."
She choked on a sob and said, "It's just that...." She sighed and buried her face into his chest. "It's just that you just got home a week ago and now you're going to be gone for four."
He smiled and rocked her gently. "I know you're going to miss me. I'm going to miss you too."
"It's just so hard sometimes," she sniffled. "I always miss you before the goodbye. I can't stand the thought of you going."
"I hate leaving you," he said and tucked a finger under her chin to raise her eyes to meet his. "I'll give it up for you. Just say the word."
"No," she said sniffling. "It's what you love and what you're good at. You wouldn't be the same Hunter in any other field." He smiled, his heart bursting with love for the woman before him. "I'll be ok. I just can never get used to saying goodbye." She hugged him and rested her head on his strong shoulder. "I'll be here waiting for you when you get back in a month."
He smiled and kissed her softly before scooping her up and carrying her into the bedroom.
