Just A Girl

Take this pink ribbon off my eyes
I'm exposed And it's no big surprise
Don't you think I know
Exactly where I stand
This world is forcing me
To hold your hand

Molly sat down in front of the makeup artists mirror and looked at her reflection. She frowned, hating the metallic pink and black jumpsuit with the matching metallic pink cape that she had to wear every night.

Shane Helms poked his head into the little alcove that was the makeup area. "We're on in a few Citizen Molly." She smiled at him, but rolled her eyes when he left the area. She really hated the way he clung to that stupid gimmick Vince forcefed him when he first came to the WWF. She knew that he was a sweet guy, but having to be teamed up with him every night was too much for her to bear sometimes.

'Cause I'm just a girl
Little ol' me
Don't let me out of your sight
I'm just a girl
All pretty and petite
So don't let me have any rights
Oh... I've had it up to here!

"You just look cuter every time I see you," Janet, the makeup artist said smiling. Molly rolled her eyes and forced a smile. "How shall I do your hair this time. Down and in curls or up in pigtails."

"Why don't you just shave it all off," Molly replied. Janet looked at her like she had two heads and then laughed nervously.

"Down and curled it is." Molly sighed and closed her eyes so that Janet could do her makeup and hair.

The moment that I step outside So many reasons
For me to run and hide
I can't do the little things
I hold so dear
'Cause it's all those little things
That I fear

Hurricane Helms' intro started and Molly walked out on his arm. She took a deep breath and forced her million dollar smile. She dreaded this every night. All the fans looking at her in disgust for joining the Alliance and turning her back on Spike Dudley. She had to admit that when she was told the direction her angle was going in she wanted to shout no at the top of her lungs, but she didn't. She was afraid of losing her job if she told Vince that she wanted to stay at Spike's side.

'Cause I'm just a girl
I'd rather not be
'Cause they won't let me drive
Late at night
I'm just a girl
Guess I'm some kind of freak
'Cause they all sit and stare
With their eyes
I'm just a girl
Take a good look at me
Just your typical prototype
Oh... I've had it up to here!
Oh... am I making myself clear?

Molly stood at ringside cheering on Shane as best she could. All she was now was a glorified cheerleader. She longed to be in the ring taking on her own opponent, but the McMahons had other plans for her. She glanced around and saw the angry faces of the fans. They all seemed to be staring at her like she was a sideshow freak. She wanted so badly to run and hide, but she stood there and cheered as Shane pinned XPac.

I'm just a girl
I'm just a girl in the world...
That's all that you'll let me be!

"Mr McMahon," Molly asked timidly when she ran into him in the back. "When will I be wrestling?"

"Wrestling," Vince replied. "Hmm....well....we need you to get a little more comfortable with your Mighty Molly persona first. Ok dear. Sorry I have to go talk to Trish about her match." Molly's face fell when he dismissed her to talk to Trish.

I'm just a girl
Living in captivity
Your rule of thumb Makes me worry some
I'm just a girl
What's my destiny?
What I've succumbed to
Is making me numb

"Ready," Shane asked as they waited for their cue the next night at Smackdown tapings. She nodded dully and took a deep breath before they burst through the curtains.

I'm just a girl
My apologies
What I've become is so burdensome
I'm just a girl
Lucky me
Twiddle-dum there's no comparison

Molly waited for her cue to grab Booker T's foot during the match. She couldn't believe what her career had become. She knew she had talent and yet always had to be the side kick, the cutesy little girly girl.

Oh... I've had it up to!
Oh... I've had it up to!
Oh... I've had it up to here!!

She saw her spot to do her side kick duties and she was about to, but then she stopped herself. "No! I won't do this anymore," she said to herself. She shook her head and left ringside leaving Shane to get the Spinerooni and then pinned.

"You have a lot of explaining to do young lady," Vince said stopping her just behind the curtains.

"Fine," she yelled. "You want an explaination? I'm sick of being treated like a silly little side kick. I'm sick of not being able to show my talents in the ring. I'm tired of you giving Trish matches I should have. To sum it up.....I'm sick of this company." She spun on her heel and stalked off ripping off the cape and dropping it on the floor. Vince stared after her slack jawed at the outburst he had just been the victim of.
